Experience Softball

A successful opening weekend of the 2013 NPF season is complete!I was only able to make it to the Bandits/Racers game Saturday night but the experience was still a great one. The play on the field was outstanding and the players and organization but on a good show. So many familiar faces on and off the field. All four teams showed signs of being very productive ball clubs. But Chicago still has Monica Abbott and USSSA still has Cat Osterman. Probably the two most dominant players in the league, still performing at an elite level. Other players like Chicago’s Megan Wiggins put on a show every at bat she stepped into the box. Through 4 games, she is hitting an incredible 7/11 with 11 RBI, 4 runs, 2 HR, 4 BB and even stole 2 bases. Other early pleasant surprises include Chicago’s rookie Mel Dumezich put up a 7 inning shutout in her debut with 7 Ks while also batting in 2 runs to help her cause. Another Chicago rookie pitcher Andi Williamson put up a 1 run complete game of her own. It’s been great to see some of my favorite young athletes on the field like Kelsey Bruder seeing more time in Florida. Rookie Tess Sito seeing regular time in the starting lineup in Akron. Jordan Taylor returned to the NPF after spending last year with Team USA. Bandits outfielder Kimi Pohlman got a little action in after signing this offseason after being drafted 2nd overall last year and sitting out.
