Anonymous asked: What's your take on the lack of pro softball teams in the west coast?

In general, I always used to think softball was more of a southern sport. West coast teams like UCLA and Arizona were dominant the times when I was a kid and before I was born. ASU, Bama, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee all have turned into major contenders, some of which all changed with a few elite level players committing to the program and building awareness which brings in more talented recruits. But more and more it has been good to see college programs succeeding in all regions. Washington has gone through a great bunch of years. Michigan has turned into a tough opponent in the north as well.

The pro league has done it’s homework and I’m sure it could capitalize greatly by having teams across the country and a higher income to be able to afford more. I think travel expense could be a factor in the lack of west coast teams. I’m not connected enough to know everything. It does surprise me some that 3 of the teams in the league are basically northern teams. I do assume that in a year or two we should be looking to expand to at least 6 teams which will immediately give an opportunity to over 40 talented young girls to live a dream of becoming a pro athlete. But I cannot say I have an idea of the markets the league may tap into.

Congrats to all 64 college softball teams who were lucky enough to earn a spot in the postseason.I have put together a map image of all 16 host teams for the first round of the tournament. You can view the entire list of matchups here. The first round is double elimination between 4 teams at each host ballpark. Go out and support your teams and the game of softball this season.

Anonymous asked: do you not like the aggies?

I’ve been watching the Aggies for a few years now, big fan of Amber Garza
Lanphear put together a great season and I’m excited to see Mel Dumezich at the pro level this season. I really expected them to surprise people in this SEC tourney but unfortunately their late comeback against Bama fell short.
With the rain delay and weather in the area, I didn’t get any pictures of the game but it was sure an exciting one.
